Castlebar has been confirmed to host The World Fleadh 2011 with preparations well under way for a great weekend of music and craic both in venues within Castlebar and outdoor street entertainment. The festival committee has worked hard over the last couple of months to secure Castlebar as the host town with The Royal Theatre Castlebar as the venue for the headlining acts of the weekend. Set to play the Main Stage in The Royal Theatre is Dervish with special guest Andy Irvine on Friday August 26, Tommy Fleming on Saturday night August 27, and Clannad on Sunday August 28.

Le Chéile Family Resource Centre (FRC) celebrated Bealtaine in style by having a coffee morning for the community on May 30. Bealtaine provides the opportunity to celebrate creativity in older age and Castlebar’s Le Chéile FRC did just that. The coffee morning was officially started by Mayor of Castlebar Councillor Gerard Deere. The crowd were entertained by Mayo’s finest Politically Correct, and Tommy Fleming dropped by for a sing-song and a cup of tea. The whole event was broadcast live on the Johnny Oosten show on Castlebar Community Radio.
